Insight Optics is an impact driven startup dedicated to connecting Primary Care Providers with Local Eye Specialists for assisted diagnostics. We have built our solution to ensure that we can capture non-adherent patients where they already are by deskilling the exam process and improving accessibility for the most rural, impoverished, and marginalized populations. Insight Optics does the heavy lifting with Machine Learning and Computer Vision to ensure exams have captured the right content and that it is of a diagnosable quality prior to transmission to a Specialist for additional support.

Insight Optics aligns with two of the
United Nations Sustainable Development Goals:
To ensure healthy lives and promote the well-being for all at all ages is essential to sustainable development.
To reduce inequalities, support the marginalized and disadvantaged. Policies should be universal in principle, paying attention to the needs of disadvantaged and marginalized populations.
How do we meet these sustainability goals?
Non-adherence to essential screening exams stems from the difficulty of visiting a specialist. Patients may lack the time, insurance, or transportation; they may lack education on disease progression and prevention; some may not schedule visits until symptoms are present; and local eye specialists may be overbooked or absent. The drivers behind why patients tend toward non-adherence compound and thus overwhelmingly affect people who live in rural areas, people with limited financial stability, and people already part of a minority population or other marginalized group.
